The Darkness’ Justin Hawkins has said he is “gobsmacked” by the fan response to news that The Darkness are reforming.
The spandex-clad rockers, who split in 2007, have got back together in their original line-up to make a new album and play the Download Festival.
Writing on his Twitter page, Twitter.com/justinhawkins, the singer said he was "overwhelmed" after being bombarded with positive messages from fans.
"Thanks for all the lovely messages of support," he wrote. "I'm gobsmacked and overwhelmed by all the positivity in and around The Darkness!"

I followed the Darkness on their web-site before they disbanded and I was so sorry when they split, I was so proud of their acheivements at that time, and I remember with sadness when it happened, now I am so pleased they are back and they will go far I am sure, Dan was the good-looking one, but I thought Justin was charasmatic, great that munga knew Justin, and rated him as a good guy, same impression I got about him.
