Malcolm its about keeping town centres open, intersting and bustling what better than something that people need daily  - food , the roads you mentioned are all out of the centre, great for the areas if yiou live in them ot have one, but the town centre needs it too badly I think

Lowestoft will soon become a clone town, i like the high street, those little independent shops.

Lowestoft is already a clone town, all the character of a damp lettuce.
On another issue I think the signs on the discount store in commercial road are hideous.Aldi were told their signs had to reflect that they were in a 'conservation area' this presumably no longer applies to the new store.
Having said that,Commercial Road is a mess,so much of it is semi derelict and needs demolishing..

Lowestoft will soon become a clone town.

Walking down the pedestrian precinct makes ME think that Lowestoft became a clone town long ago.

At least they leave you in no doubt as to what kind of store it is.

If its a new store it has to be either discount or charity, unfortunately anything else goes on the outskirts.
I can't for the life of me believe that anyone resposible for the 'pedestrianisation' the silly statue, the kiosk contraption, bins, lighting or whatever really looked at what they'd done and thought that will attract anyone to come into the town.
It;s just a mess and nothing what so ever looks any different to hundreds of other towns and cities.

It is a shame that our town has followed in the footsteps of so many other towns
The tin statue
The fountains
The crossings right on top of roundabouts
I like my town (even though I am an import) I just wish that the controlling bodies would listen to the voice of the towns folk and not follow like sheep

I agree with you Old Spice and it is the same INSIDE the shops with the same old stuff on same racks etc

Lowestoft needs a total and utter re-think on its direction especially the town centre but it won’t happen until we get rid of the clone clowns who design this rubbish from 40 miles away and don’t live here.
And lets be honest who in there right mind would want to open a new business in the town centre?

On the other hand town centre s are difficult to get to and park near. If they were used like you say they would be over crowded.
Out of town shopping provides free parking and everything you need in one place. Thats what we all want really otherwise they would not exsist.
