Sports section

Would it be a good idea to expand this section, rename it to say 'Sport, hobbies and interests' or something along those lines?
People can talk about their hobbies, examples may include if they've been fishing off the beach or on the river and comment what sort of day they've had, or birders can comment if there are any interesting sightings locally etc... Any collectors in our ranks can discuss what they collect, whether it be stamps, ornaments of a certain theme... People can detail gaps they may have in their collections and talk to people with similar collections and arrange swaps when circumstances allow. Photography is also an interest which is already covered in the 'Dark Room' section but there are plenty of others.
It's just an idea i had the other day but have only just now got round to typing it out. What do other members think? I'd be interested to hear what other people think.

Sounds a good idea to me James82, it may even spark an interest in someone to take up a new hobby or pastime.

Can I offer my thoughts here - that it might be better to keep the “Sports Section” as it is and have a separate “Hobbies and Interests”? To me they’re two different areas and from my own point of view if I wanted to read/comment on Hobbies/Interests I wouldn’t want to plough through the Sports headings - that’s a no go area for me!

I agree with you Trigger. I'd also thought of that but was waiting for the overall reaction to the suggestion before discussing it with admin about a new folder in one of the categories. I think it's a go!

I would have avoided the topic as it contains sport and I think that would be the larger input and so I would have no real interest in as pointed out wading through loads of sport posts to look at hobbies.
A great idea for the forum, and like all idea's need an input from those that would use them.
Mmm I wounder if our council would take note of the way this forum runs so well

I originally thought they could be separate but didn't want to suggest that first because it may just create extra work for mods/admin. Im glad others seem to think its a reasonable idea. I find people who do post about their interests do so in 'The lounge' where after a short time the topic seems to get lost/deleted.
