Say n' maw, say no maw!

Website

Hi all,

I thought it would be useful to post the details of resources that would help other members find old friends and relatives in this topic.

It would certainly stop us from having to repeat ourselves every time someone asks for help in finding old friends and family and it should become a valuable resource.

Thanks in advance for any contributions

I'm no expert, but I'll get us started:

www.waveney.gov.uk/cemetery/cemetery.htm - online records of those burried in cemeterys around the Waveney district.

www.friendsreunited.co.uk - a comprehensive database of people in the UK categorised by the school(s) they attend.

http://www.familysearch.org/ - operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (the Mormons). Including the world's largest family history library. An amazing resource with many tips and services for tracing your family tree.

Thanks for the links Darren. Meryl got me some info on my grandmother and her family. That's a start. It's starting to fill in some blanks in my Family Tree Maker. Hopefully, I'll be able to spend some time at it this winter. Perhaps it will even give me the urge to come to England for my first time.

I will certainly try to sort out some addresses to add to this topic Darren, I know that Ken had loads there at one time and Dorothy. We'll have ask them too.
if the family is local which mine tend to be, I do spend a bit of time in the research section at the library. Also a good place to visit is the Church of the Latter Day Saints on Yarmouth Rd. they have a wide source of information available. Can't tell the opening hours as I know that they have changed

Also if your ancestor could have been killed in the wars, try www.cwgc.org
This is the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

http://www.192.com/search.cfm - search the Electoral Roll for 2003. May help in locating 'lost ones' still alive, and checking middle initials of family members, etc

To get around having to pay, enter your search terms and then select 'Show who they live with' to see full details (must be a bug in their system, so you can see all info by selecting this option anyway, without paying!)
