On Friday there was an update: “Windows Live Essentials 2011” - which allowed you to select the items you wanted. As I only use “Windows Live Mail” I updated that - Big Mistake! Apart from looking better than it did previously, and is more streamlined - it’s proving to be a pain! On my machine, it’s temperamental - sometimes opening promptly - otherwise it takes for ages. The same applies when you click on a new email - and it can open them promptly - or take ages - and then the panel “whites out” and you’re offered a few choices: to close the programme, wait for a response, etc.
Have done a quick search and there seems to be a number of people having problems with this particular download - KB2434419, and, of course, once installed it cannot be removed!
Looks as though I shall have to find another email program!

Thanks Meryl - but, possibly not as simple as that! With yours - it was, I think, the email program with your ISP. Here it’s via good old Microsoft - and don’t particularly want to contact them (the last time I did it was a 10p a minute call lasting 45 mins!). As I mentioned others are having problems with the full update - I only had the email part. I’ll give a couple of more days - if it remains the same, then I think a different email proggy is called for.

It was Microsoft who downloaded mine yesterday morning, I was asked what I wanted and I chose just the Live mail
Me too! But - mine seems to be temperamental - or just giving me a hard time! It could, of course, be something with my computer - but, it (Windows Live) was working fine - then came the update - now it does it's own thing. Sometimes opening quickly - then it takes forever . . ! The same happens when you want to open a new email. Aargh!
Update: Have just searched using "KB2434419 problems" (that's the number of the complete update) - one little glimmer of hope was "I believe M$ is aware of the problem and is working on it to issue a fix."

Hi Trigger I to use the MS mail and did the download update and it did muck one bit of my MS Live Mail but that has now corrected itself. I have hotmail, and the windows live options and my live space and Live lounge have gone but as I did not use them I am not worried. I have also got Yahoo and Virgin as mail portals (and then there is the two company ones) I prefer MS, though I think Yahoo is horrible Virgin is even worse, and then there are many more mail clients which can be used it is hard to find one which you can like straight away (then they change IT)

I don't know which version of Windows you use but in Vista you can uninstall updates by going into the Control Panel>Programs>Programs and Features>View Installed Updates (shown in the left panel under "Tasks"). Then highlight the update you wish to remove then Click on "Uninstall"
