Washing Machine/Tumble Dryer repairer « Posted: 27 September 2010 at 10:58 PM »

Our Zanussi Washing Machine / Tumble Dryer, tumbles but doesn't dry anymore.

Can anyone recommend someone to repair it, or do we have to contribute to the throwaway society and buy a new machine?

I concur with the comments re: chriscott - excellent service when I bought a washing machine from him 2 years ago.

On the subject of washing machines is there anyone who would know where I can get a twin tub ?
I would prefer one with a vertical paddle rather than a spinning disc type as it is for a ship and it will be for the overalls so it will end up working every day on a very hot wash but I don't want to use too much water.

I remember several years ago that Chriscott ordered a twin tub for my cousin.

Chriscot has just been back with the part and the cooker is back to normal. I asked him about a twin tub and the only place you can get them is on line. He tried forone about 18 months ago, but said no spare parts were available at that time.

I have always found combination Washer/dryers troublesome.  I reckon it's something to do with combining the equivalent of 2 machines normally the same size as each other into one machine of similar size.  Now have separate machines - no problems.  When the tumble dryer element went after about 11 years I bought and replaced it myself for about £25/30.

One of the main parts that wears on a washer/dryer is the bearing which gets double use on a washer dryer. So is prone to fail qicker than in a wash only machine.

Because a washing machine is one of the most important appliances at home we have to take good care of it. In repairing, we have to realize that they are harder to diagnose than to repair because it does a lot of work every week. But if you really want to repair your washing machine then you have to trust it to experts.
