So Many Questions..... So Little Time.....

Re: The Nelson Pub that was down Victoria Rd now some houses « Reply #10 Posted: 03 October 2010 at 04:43 PM »

"The Lord Nelson was erected in 1903 and is the reason why there are so many roads with a Nelson connection in this area (Hardy, Suckling, Burnham)

The house was erected upon the hope of recieving the custom of those of the West Lowestoft Estate (Kimberley Road area) and further from workers of the Ice Company  and those of Maconochie.

Whilst the reputation of house was never  upmarket, prior to WWII it viewed as quite solid

Sadly the lack of custom, lead to lack of improvement, which started the chain over again and to its eventual closure

"The Lord Nelson" was located  at  333 Victoria Road, demolished in 1996, after being purchased by the Suffolk Heritage Housing Association.

Hope this helps?

That’s very true, funky.  I did mention a while back, in response to a posting about ghosts, an incident which happened in my home - whilst a blind friend was visiting.  He suddenly went quiet - when I asked him what was wrong - he replied that something had come into the room.  We must bear in mind that he, being blind from birth, is susceptible to changes that can happen - like a slight change in temperature.

The following day I phoned a lady I know who is a medium - and told her of this, adding that I felt this could be somehow caused by me.  Her immediate response was that it was solely down to him - and nothing to do with me.  The next time we met, we discussed this and the subject generally and he then admitted that he has had similar experiences at his home.
