Did anyone see 'Digging For Britain' on BBC2 last night? Fascinating prog with Dr. Alice Roberts discussing various Roman archaelogical sites around the country. There will be further weekly programmes featuring the Pre-history period, Anglo-Saxon and Tudor times. Weekly on Thursdays BBC2 @ 9pm.

Did anyone else see the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain’s Prom Concert - shown on Saturday night? I viewed it last night - a very impressive concert! The orchestra comprised 163 musicians - aged between 13 and 19 years! The concert started with sparkling performance of Paul Dukas’ “Sorcerer’s Apprentice” plus a great performance of the “Symphonie fantastique” by Berlioz.

Nature programmes! “Halcyon River Diaries” is being repeated on BBC1 @ 5:40pm - a nice, leisurely programme featuring English wildlife. I think its three episodes. “Charlie Hamilton James (Wildlife Photographer) and his family watching the wildlife in and around the small river near to their home. Especially interesting are the otters and kingfishers - but also interesting watching the family’s ‘adventures..” Their website mentions there will be an edition for showing around the December Holiday period! Link to the family's website.
A new series starting tomorrow (Monday) on Channel 5 @ 6pm and showing each day of this week is “Panda Week” with Nigel Marven. Quote from my TV Guide: “New, daily series, following the enthusiastic presenter on his quest to a) cuddle a baby giant panda, and b) see one in the wild. This episode finds him in China, achieving the former at the Chengdu panda research centre. Jealous? You bet!”

Trigger,I watched the first half of “Halcyon River Diaries” tonight which I thoroughly enjoyed, however when the Otter section started I retired to the garage to fiddle about with my fishing gear. I was surprised when my wife came through and said that Charlie had died and the program was a tribute to him. Made me think of the Australian crocodile man who made documentaries, also a family man,he also died a young man killed by a croc if I remember correctly.
I also watched country file tonight and was very surprised to see sheep being milked and the milk being turned into cheese, must confess I have always thought milk came from cows or goats, just shows you never stop learning.

It has obviously had it's day. A very mundane episode which is sad as it used to be very good.
