Brazil football legend Socrates fighting for his life

Former Brazil captain Socrates is fighting for his life in hospital.

Medics at a Sao Paulo hospital said Socrates, widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time, remained on life support on Saturday.

He has been in a critical condition with an intestinal infection since being admitted to intensive care on Friday night.

Socrates, who played in two World Cups, won 60 caps for his country between 1979 and 1986, scoring 22 goals.

A hospital statement said the former footballer was "in a critical condition due to a septic shock of intestinal origin".

It added he was breathing with a ventilator and using a dialysis machine.

Socrates was hospitalised twice in August and September this year with bleeding in his digestive tract.

Barnsley 2 Ipswich 5  Well done Ipswich after being   2 0 down at half time. I would have liked to heard that half time talk.

Barnsley got another late on it finished 3-5, Paul Jewell just said apparently to his players at half time; you got to believe in yourselves, seem to do the trick but maybe there was more to it!?

Well done to Norwich a good win.

Just finish watching the Liverpool v Man U. FA Cup tie.   End of a very satisfying week having knocked both Manchester sides out of the two 'home' cup competitions.  Smiley

I watched it too Boatbuilder, I enjoyed the game and the noise from the supporters certainly made for a good atmosphere for the match to be played in. Everton are my favourite of the Liverpool teams and City the favourite from Manchester...but I was pleased with the result so my dislike of United must be stronger than my dislike of Liverpool  Wink Smiley

I thought it was a poor display of football by spurs with all there negative passing in their own half of the field only to ultimatly loose it after so much passing. Any gains in territory was too often lost when they end up back in their own goalmouth.
I would not know from our telly view if that ball was over the line but it certainly looked like it to me.
Thank goodness Chelsea one by more than one goal or the ref would have been under fire.

The ball was definitely not over the line, Aussie,  On the replay (from the opposite side of the pitch)  the foot that kept it out was at least on the line or maybe even in front of the line.
