lost touch with my relatives
« Posted: 16 July 2010 at 09:42 AM »
Hi everyone.
I am trying to trace some of my relatives in Lowestoft and the area though some were in Fleggburgh near to Thurne / Acle. However Lowestoft is my main concern really. Firstly a Mr Gordon Boggis of ex butcher Boggis,s in Raglan Street as he sold the business on . Any Sharman,s as one Bobby Sharman had a fish and chip shop just off the road coming down the hill from Pakefield into LT though not sure of the road name. Others would be the offspring of the Newsom / Newson ?? family that lived in Oulton Village or Platford,s whom I think were Janet Platford ( nee surname). Can anyone help trace any of these or that may know them and their whereabouts. Thanks Rodsharm.

During the 60's the fish and chip shop on the corner of Lawson Road and Beaconsfield Road off London Road South. was owned by a Mr and Mrs Sharman.

Gordon Boggis was my mum's butcher and his brother Basil owned the fruit and veg shop on the opposite corner of Raglan street.Josephine Holmes was in my class at Lowestoft Grammar school-I think her mother was maybe the sister of the Boggis boys.I left Lowestoft in 1961 and have only been back for visits since then except for 1970 when I was there while my husband was in Viet-nam.My mother's maiden name was Sharman but they lived in Mutford

Thank you for that information it maybe that the Sharman in Mutford ws another relative of mine and connected to the Sharman that had the fish and chip shop just off the main road into Lowestoft from the pakefield direction as you drop down the hill. I can look at google earth for the road name if I can spot it. Thanks again Rodsharm.

Hi Nancy , it would be better if you made yourself known in the reception topic. More people would be able to welcome you.
