Re: My Mye(Eileen's blog) « Reply #30 Posted: 05 July 2010 at 10:18 AM »

Eileen has had 4 lots of chemo, but will probably have had one more since her email to me, and has a further 16 weeks of treatment to endure. Eileen will start a new trial drug soon which in her words will make her feel crappy.
Eileen's motto is, "Kicking and Screaming," and she's praying that she'll have the strength to get through this.
The cancer is in her bone plasma and not in one spot or organ and is as serious as it gets.
Medics do make mistakes from time to time but not in this case and our prayers are very much needed and wanted.
I have been praying for Eileen and will continue to do so.
If i hear from Eileen i will keep you posted.

Hi everyone
Thank you so much for all the PM's and best wishes. It is quite a mental ordeal to put bad news out in public and although I was reading your lovely messages I just couldn't respond.
However, I'm getting used to my new way of life and am more able to cope with all these new emotions.
Margo is right, this is not a cancer that has a cure (as yet) so my aim is to get into remission and then stay there as long as possible while the Docs and scientists need to hurry up and get working on it ASAP.
I just started my next round of chemo and this trial drug (RevLMid) so far so good. It should be bloody marvellous at $277 per dose!!!!! Thank goodness for insurance. I'm also on Coumadin as the meds and the port I've had placed in my upper chest may cause blood clots. (that's a way to get needles in to a large vein easily and not a beverage you understand) Smiley
This week I go to Dartmouth-Hitchcock (a large teaching hospital) to meet the Oncologist who will perform my plasma transplant (if all goes well)
I've gained some of the 20lbs I lost and it's lovely to be encouraged to eat, eat, eat! Grin I'm getting around quite well, sometimes with a walker, other times just a cane. My hip and ribs are the most painful but usually get better as the day goes on (until later when I get tired) I have been so lucky with side effects so far, nothing too bad.
Having to resign from the job I loved was devasting, I've never cried so much typing a resignation letter. However I have many friends there and they continue to visit and call so I don't feel too remote from it all.
I also have may friends here on LOL and I appreciate your love and support very much-keep praying Kiss
