Hi folks,
Here's the latest report from Bob, Eileen's husband.

"I'm happy to report Eileen is doing quite well.  She's been improving over the last 2-3 days.  Is quite alert and feeling better.  When I called her a few minutes ago she was actually sitting up in a chair and working on a crossword puzzle.  If you've talked to her anytime since she's been at Dartmouth you'd realize that is great news.  She seems to be getting back to her old self.  Last night she was joking and lauging with her LNA.  She saw one of her Oncology doctor's this morning and they are pleased with her progress.  Her liver seems to be getting better and he wants her to start moving around more and getting out of bed.  She's scheduled to get Dialysis on Mon / Wed / Fri next week and will undoubtedly get a couple chemo treatments as well.  The doctor's play that treatment from day to day depending on her general strength and how her kidney/liver functions are.  The fluids she's finally starting to pass are drastically more normal and she's receiving medication today to make her pee a lot, helping to clean out her system.  She had gained a lot weight recently and weighed 157 lbs a couple days ago because of swelling due to fluid retention.  She is really good spirits right now and is actually starting to get a little appetite back.  A nutritionist visited her twice yesterday and discussed her food options and what she could "special" order.  Eileen says her improvement can be attributed to the British Ribena and Lucozade drinks she started taking.  I can't say I don't believe it.  I picked her up some Robinson's Barley water concentrate mix yesterday so that may really have a positive effect on her.  Anyway, she's in really good spirits and except for the days (normally mornings) she gets dialysis treatment she is answering her room phone and is able to talk more comfortably. "

I spoke to her via telephone last night and she really does sound very up-beat. She thanks you all for your thoughts and prayers.

Toodeloo for now,
