Whilst im not a fan of the Royals, I thought it would be good to have a thread on our other 'main' football club in the town. If anyone goes to see them regularly then like in the LTFC thread maybe some match news can be posted.
As it stands they are 2 leagues below Lowestoft town in the non league football pyramid, The Ridgeons league is known as 'Step 5' in the grand scale of things.
Take a look at their website if you're ever bored!

They say the dog is man's best friend. I don't believe it - how many of your friends would you neuter?

The bored remark was only light hearted, most people on this website id imagine dont give a damn about football most probably.
Nowadays some Lowestoft fans still go and see Kirkley play when Lowestoft are not at home (and vice versa) but not just as much recently as things off the field haven't gone go too well since the Suffolk Premier cup match between the 2 sides last November. Im not sure of the definant true story but it was something to do with the 'weakened' team Lowestoft put out for that match.

Lowestoft put out their reserve side as they had a FA Cup Qualifying game away at Gloucester on the Saturday after the SPC on the wednesday.
Think the rivalry goes on a bit beyond that though

It sure does, healthy rivalry hopefully I havent noticed as many K&P followers coming to watch Lowestoft this season, as they did when we were in the Ridgeons, perhaps they are just jealous

KPFC Adult Section Statement
KPFC Adult Section have undertaken a review of the players contracts and concluded that the present costs are not sustainable.
This action has been driven by the reality that local sponsors have had to make cut backs at this time of austerity and this income is down by over 50%. Put simply there are insufficient funds to maintain our current trading situation. KPFC Adult Section have offered all players new remuneration arrangements but understand that if an individual feels they wish to go elsewhere, they will be released if they request to do so.
The club believes that the players will understand the economic realities of today and we would hope that they stay to play for their local club. The club is not in any financial difficulties and this action is to ensure that it stays that way. Thank you to all our sponsors and supporters this season.
Bob Jenkerson Chairman KPFC Adult Section

Sorry to read that. Non of the vast sums of money in football are circulating to the lower divisions.

I dont think their future is under threat, I think it seems sensible to look at things and be honest in saying to the players and staff theres theres going to be a shortfall in money coming into the club so you can either scale down your wages or you're free to leave the club.

A lot of non league clubs are feeling the squeeze, not sure about top premier league or championship clubs. Non league clubs rely the old fashioned way of sponsorship and people through turnstyles, rather than 6 figure payouts from BBC or Sky sports.
A lot of sponsorship comes from small local businesses such as pubs, butchers, car repair garages, the sort of business that would spend less on marketing/advertising during a time of austerity/recession. It's easy to see how precarious things are.

I heard today that Kirkley & Pakefield are playing tonight in a cup game. Nothing about it or who they are playing in the paper today. Anybody know anything?
