I visited friends this morning on a piece of land they own at Camps Heath. I must now go on this walk. I have seen what used to be The Army Barracks near Manor Field. The spot lights and anti aircraft guns were based there (part of Lowestoft s protection from raids during the war).
Anybody Know anything about the mosaic floor found nearby? Quickly covered up by the farmer who did not want archaeologists tramping about. I understand the land is now owned by Suffolk County Council. Could the floor be Roman? Looking at the views it is the kind of place The Romans would like.

I wonder who they were and where they ended up .I can remember my mother saying that the were huts were a bit basic and impossible to heat .She was telling me about it several years after we'd left .After all it was an army camp .

I believe it was temporary accomodation after the war for families who were displaced for one reason or another.

I assume my mum and dad and me moved there because we were living with dads parents and with seven adults and a baby in a terrace house things must have been difficult .

There's a good chance I was there at the same time ,it was between 1948 and1950 .My brother was born in 50 and i can remember a photo of him and me in the front garden of the house we moved to .

I was told that I had dummy that disappered one day never to been seen again and everyone thought the dog my mum had at the time ate it . later the same dog was accused of chasing the  nearby farmers chicken 's and was put down .It was a manchester terrier.
