Ok - as the subjedct suggests, I was wondering who Nicholas Everitt, (of Nicholas Everitt's park fame) was.

a quick web search brought up -
an author

but it can't have been him - as the books dates  are too late.

so - any ideas?

This link to the British Library might give you a clue.  Looks like there are two Nicholas Everitts (related?).
Otherwise there may be more detail in the Museum in the park.

 I have written a few notes on the life of Everitt, I trust this helps?

Henry Reeve Everitt (22nd May 1867, Garveston, Norfolk - 1928 June 28th, Oulton Broad) Henry utilised the pen name Nicholas, after discovering the truth of the criminal past of the gentleman he was named after. By profession a solicitor and public notary,  partner in the company of Watson and Everitt (of Norwich and Lowestoft) from 1890 but best known as the gentleman commemorated in Nicholas Everitt Park. The family of Everitt resided at the Broad House which they rented, with Nicholas himself moving there in 1910. Everitt was a spy during WW1 and inventor, best remembered for inventing the Q-boat, although not credited to him.

Don't know if anybody is still monitoring this topic but... Was it true that when Nicholas Everitt left his home and land to Lowestoft/Oulton Broad that it was under the instruction that nobody should ever be charged to go into it for any reason?

That was my impression with the exception 3 times a year for special events.
