Saying that

WDC sent detailed photographs to all utilities to rebuild the ironwork, I represented 2 big companies on the project and WDC were lead partners and carried out the refurb project.

Nobody may want to own it. WDC SCC and highways will take due diligence on the old bascule tunnel.

AW-YH1 is the tunnel u ought to try and visit Its HUGE!!! (you will need a bicycle)

Are you talking about the refurb carried out in about 1997?
If you are, I was project engineer for the scheme. It was lead and managed by WDC, but on behalf of Anglian Water.
I was a drainage engineer for WDC at the time, carrying out AW's capital and maintenance contracts.

I told my girlfriend I had a job in a bowling alley. She said 'Tenpin?' I said, 'No, permanent.'

I only had an overview of the project

You will know what a collapsed mess it was in 1997

As a consulting engineer for many Cos my interest was only on client safety and protection of any vested assets,,

This is a Medium to high risk tunnel..

Sorry, stumbled across this topic kind of by accident, as I was googling for tunnels in Lowestoft (my home town) which my Grandad told me about, but he can't really remember too much.

Anyway, i'm interested because of this thread http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=210&t=779999&mid=73206&i=0&nmt=Cool%20pics%20of%20urban%20exploring,%20abandoned%20machines%20and%20stuff%20&mid=73206

I won't be telling anyone where i'm off to!

Nice to hear about these other tunnels though, won't be going anywhere where I need breathing aids <yikes>
