Opening and Closing « Posted: 04 November 2009 at 01:37 PM »

On my late morning perambulation today I noticed that the “empty” shop next Poundland in the Britten Centre is now becoming a “Calendar Club” Shop – which I think is probably a short-term thing and probably closing at the end of the Festive season.

The QS store – next to the new QD Store in the main street - is closing - they have a notice announcing that all stock has to go – and adding that their lease has ended.

As far as I am aware, it is a restaurant extension to Notleys, owned and operated by them.  Many delays I believe are due to grant applications.

Looking from outside, it looks nearly done, must just have the inside to finish off. it should do well when complete.

In building terms looking done from the outside means very little. Second fixings and finishing can involve a lot more work and take longer.

Sometimes if its a grant and you open and make a profit before a set time you have to reimburse that grant.I don't know if thats applicable in this case. They were a long while like this last time in similar circumstances. They waited 9 mounths for an outside light to be fitted, because until that was done it wasn't finished.

I went to the Harbour Inn last Saturday first time i've been since it's revamp, have to say the dark patterned wallpaper and extended seating and dark carpets makes it feel sombre and morgue like  Undecided

Dave01 it was originally a victorian style restaurant front with windows either side of a set back door. which has now been extended made into a a flat front .I don't know if its whats called general building work or not. JameW82 I went there and I thought perhaps it was the Gothic look,or perhaps the dark colours don't show the muck, but they did it quick.
