I personally think a Mosque is just what Lowestoft needs...

They can pray in the road, like they do in London....and hold up the traffic...and the police cannot do anything...

Lowestoft needs a Mosque...And if anyone complains or disagrees...then they are obviously racist.....

Allah Akbar....

I've been and had a look at a few but none really light my candle.I'm amazed how many shops and businesses even those still trading are actually up for sale, and thats everywhere not just Lowestoft.
The economy and job stability is in a much worse state than they like us to think.

I am sure you are right OS.
I don't think we have seen even half of the problems of retail businesses and manufacturing companies yet.

Must say we are not too bad here in Weymouth on one side with the marine Olympics this year quite a few plus`es although we do have small business`s closing in centre of town they are slowly reappearing as different sales, let`s hope it continues, but as you both say, times are difficult re: the recession, hope we see a change not too far off. The rep for a large and wel known 'British' firm has over the years become a friend. He retires in a couple of weeks and told me he's glad he is.
The firm he works for has employed him for over forty years and he's seen many changes. He told me that their factory is now vitually a shell the component parts of the products they sell are now made in China and India and the factory simply assembles them.By doing so they are still able to put "Made in England" on the boxes.A few weeks ago the firm starting investigating wether it would lose trade in they moved the whole operation abroad and if the savings would compensate for the loss of confidence when the 'Made in England' message vanished from the boxes after a couple of hundred years.
I've heard similar tales from other firms the only tools I can absolutely gaurantee are made 100% in this country are those by Abingdon King Dick and although of outstanding quality they are expensive and sales in this country are poor.
My own tools I've had since my apprenticeship and although I've lost a few the rest are used constantly and are still fit for purpose.Other than some Elora and Gedore they bear the names of English makers now confined like so much of British manufacturing to history.
I have a friend who owns an engineering business in Sheffield he tells me that if we think we have it bad here,in Sheffield there are more empty closed factories than open ones.
