I think you'll find that Homebase was originally owned by Sainsbury's - but was sold in 2000.

From Wikipedia:

"Homebase was founded by Sainsbury's supermarket chain and Belgian retailer GB-Inno-BM in 1979 as Sainsbury's Homebase, to bring supermarket-style layout to the British DIY market."

“Sainsbury's sold the Homebase chain in December 2000 in a two-fold deal worth £969 million.”

Please don't apologise Meryl - it's an easy mistake to make.  Companies seem to be bought and sold so often these days - you never know who owns what!

I went past Grizzly's American diner in High Street on Saturday night and that appears to have closed down, the signage along the front had gone and it was closed and locked up, that lasted long!

'Grizzly's" has indeed closed down. However there has been workmen inside during the week refurbishing it. Also on the window were various notices asking for staff so maybe someone else is going to try their luck.

There will never be an Ikea in Lowestoft. they need to be centrally based with a wide area of coverage. Sainsbury's sounds logical. Is the nearest GY or Norwich?

There's a Sainsburys in Great Yarmouth, near the bus station (ish) next to where the Garibaldi Night Club used to stand
