Reginald William Boggis
was born at Oulton Villa in January 1894, the 3rd child of James Boggis and Lucy Potter who had a farm/market garden in Oulton Road almost opposite College Farm.
Reg married Kate Futter in 1924 but she died in strange circumstances in 1927 at the age of 28. He married
Grace Barber
in Boston, Lincolnshire in 1928 and died in 1975 at the age of 81. Grace had passed-on in 1956 aged 63.
Several members of the Boggis family were butchers. Gordon Boggis, a cousin of Reginald, had the shop in Raglen Street (I remember his daughter), and his brothers Sidney and Roland were also in the meat trade. Reg's sister Ellen married Ben Saunders who had premises near to the Journal office, this was demolished when the High Street was widened.
Reginald was the brother of my wife's grandmother.

Hi m g w thanks for that information, it would have been Gordon who I knew then as we lived a bit higher than his shop in Raglan Street, I used to go in there for the meat that my mum wanted, we used to have a laugh about different things, they were always jolly in there.

That was my silly little joke Gwynneth.
I just knew Mr Boggis as the butcher man and he had two sons who served in the shop as well, but didnt know them otherwise , just to say` Hi` when I went in, hope you get more information on here.
