This might be the wrong place for this subject so please move it if it is.
I was told a few years ago that Margaret Rutherford had a sister in Lowestoft
who  had a fruit and veg shop in the high street somewhere.
Does any-one know if this is right out of interest?

According to Wikipedia – “Born in the (then) Surrey town of Balham, she was the only child of Mr and Mrs William Rutherford Benn”.

Thanks Trigger but the problem with wiki is that any body can put anything in but then the
person who told me might have been pulling my leg.  Roll Eyes

But you know I always tell the truth. angel

Valid point – but I had also double-checked with the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography and that comes up with the same info.  I didn’t mention that source because it can only be accessed through the Lowestoft Library’s reference service.  So it’s confirmed by one very reliable source –and also by an iffy one!  Grin

Thank you Trigger.
I'm going to smack my old work mates legs when I see him next.
I was the only female at the fish company and as you can imagine I was prime
target for jokes and wind ups. Roll Eyes
The worst people for it apart from my direct work mate were David & Gorden from
 the Raglan Street Smokehouse.  Smiley

Yes it was Meg, they were both very funny people and great characters.
When I worked at the cold store they had the ITV team in to make an episode of
Patricks Pantry filming at the smoke house but it wasn't Patrick himself but the man
who wore the strange "Loveys I'm an actor don't you know" type hat.
Gorden had to explain the whole smoking process to him,  even about making the
fire and when he'd done that the man leaned closer & asked  "And how do you light it?"
Gorden whispered "With a match" Apparently the film crew were sniggering a lot.
This explanation works well if you have met him.
Funny thing was it took all the men a fair while before they would tell me jokes incase
I got embarrased so I told them some and that broke the ice  Wink
