Thanks all for the feed back on the pictures; here is two more of Commercial Road to show some of the dereliction. The first one is the old Railway Police Station and the second is the bridge over the railway lines which leads to Denmark Road. It has been shut off as it is deemed to dangerous to cross…if it isn't repaired soon it will be to late to do anything with it and it will have to be demolished, which would be a pity.

That is a phone box, Debby. Not many of them around here now, the ones I have seen are usually vandalised or used as toilets.
I always wondered what that derelict building was, Mel. Great pictures, never go that far into Commercial Road now, didn't know the footbridge was shut off either.

Mel
Would that bridge leading to Denmark road be the old "Iron Bridge" as we knew it by ,when I was a kid, we used to love watching things from there, and it seemed enormous to us then of course, that was late 30`s.
Morning Rena ! and hi to you all , and have a nice day.

The footbridge has been closed for a while, i used to enjoy going over it. I did not know that was the old police station Mel. Was there two or did it predate the one on Regent Rd?

My friends and I loved going over the "Iron bridge" as we called it.We also used to stand and watch the trains pass under it.It will be sad if it is torn down.I wonder how old it is?
Malcolm I don't think the Railway police are anything to do with the regular police.

I will look forward to them Rena.
Meg you used to watch the trains there as well, it was a lovely bridge wasnt it, yes I wondered how old it would be now, I guess it`s still the original one, we used to live almost opposite there when I was about 5 years old until I was about 12 then we moved.
