Selector is an evil system - I think it's a bit like the story of We Will Rock You, where we all get exposed to the same material, even at the same time of day. If you drive about the country a lot, it's very strange when you go into a different independent radio area, and hear the same songs, over and over again. I went to Cornwall one day and started to keep count of the time the same Phil Collins was played - very annoying!

I travel around a lot and stopped listening to radio 8 years ago when I got my first mp3 player. Nowadays I listen to stations such as Jazz FM and Planet Rock on DAB. It's for that very reason.
