Long time Lowestoft resident here, ex pat for a few years, then lived in various parts of the country, but now back for the forseeable future..



From my front window

Former St Margarets, Harris and Denes pupil and very disappointed in what my town has become.. but thats a whole different kettle of monkeys Wink

Currently Im an IT Consultant/EPOS engineer and run my own website providing entertainment for the Ex-Pat community at large (and many American anglophiles as well)

Have browsed most of the threads and found this to be a very informative and entertaining site Smiley

Thank you Meg. Smiley I have an American in residence at the moment, she gave up the bright lights and excitement of Hollywood and traded them in for Lowestoft..

Look for me from your front window in a month or so.  I walk by Marine Parade at least twice a day.  I'll be the middle aged woman all bundled up with a coat when everyone else is in shorts with the glow-in-the-dark red hair who's mumbling to herself with the funny American accent, "Damn, it's cold here!".

You'll have to be more specific than that.  Baldy men wave at me from their windows all of the time.  Some of them even have their pants on. Grin Grin

On a more serious note, maybe your American friend needs to make some friends in Lowie.  There's a Red Hat club in Lowestoft my mother belongs to and they are very welcoming and that would be a good start to establishing some friends in the area.

They are a group of ladies who get together for functions etc and they wear red hats and purple dresses.That's about all I know about them!

Red hats and purple dresses? not exactly a fashion statement but would certainly get you recognised in Lowestoft.

There used to be a man here in Killeen who would stand in his window stark naked and wave to the school kids walking by on their way to school.

There was a big fuss about whether he was within his rights to run around in his own house naked, but it was quickly decided that he wasn't and the police put a stop to that.

But if you have a t-shirt on when you wave, that might be ok.
