I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Birdseye's pull out won't hurt the show.  Hopefully it's grown to the point where it doesn't need a major sponsor to prop it up anymore.

Woo Hooooo..... I hope the Vulcan is flying. The one thing about the cold war was plenty of airshows. I can remember the groaning noise the vulcan made, the lightning that streaked down the runway and went 90deg into orbit and the sleek blackbird roaring overhead.

I'm still toying with the idea of going to the RIAT at Fairford this year. Going to cost about £200 but without a doubt best airshow in the country.

Do they still have the air show at Mildenhall?
I was working in the Public Relations office on base and was assigned to co-ordinate the Thunderbirds lodging, transportation etc.  Just my luck it was the year they cancelled it so my hard work come to naught!
The Stealth took my breath away-eerie the way it almost disappears from sight-very UFO-like!

There hasn't been an airshow (Air Fete) at Mildenhall since 2001.
There was one planned for 2002 but it was cancelled due to the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the increased security that followed.

I have on two occasions asked staff at Mildenhall if there are any plans for an Air Fete in the near future. The answers were both the same, No!
The reasons given apart from the security nightmare, is that Mildenhall has a constant rotation of staff coming and going from the US, this was never a problem before because the was always a large number of personnel on base that had the experience of putting on an Air Fete, and this experience was passed on to any new staff that year. But not having an Air Fete for 7 years and the constant rotation of base personnel means there is very few people left with any experience of hosting an Air Fete.
